Mathioudakis Mathaios

Dr. Mathaios Mathioudakis is a Researcher at the Plant Pathology Laboratory of IOSV / ELGO-DIMITRA, specializing in Plant Pathology of tree crops. He holds a Master’s degree in Plant Pathology with specialization in Virology and a PhD in Plant Molecular Virology. He has experience in sampling, isolation and characterization of pathogenic viruses (olive, citrus and subtropical species). His research lines focus on the following: i) study of endemic and newly emerging diseases and development of innovative diagnostic tools, ii) study of virus/virus epidemiology and analysis of evolutionary relationships and population structure, iii) study of host-pathogen interactions with the ultimate goal of understanding their biology and development of biotechnological methods for disease control. To date, he has published more than 20 research articles in peer-reviewed journals (https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Matthaios-Mathioudakis) and has carried out numerous research projects (https://elgo.iosv.gr/staff-member/mathioudakis-manthos/). In this Operational Plan he will be involved in the monitoring of the presence of ASBVd virus in avocados.
